Rare series of six cutlery and a silver stew spoon, by master goldsmith Nicolas Gonthier, Paris 1769-1773. Nicolas Gonthier was received as a master goldsmith in Paris on December 17, 1768. The cutlery was made over several years 1769-1770 (letters F) for 4 place settings and the stew spoon and 1772-1773 (letter I) for 2 place settings which happened quite often for large ensembles. They are of the same model and all engraved with the same coat of arms. The stew spoon is not engraved with a coat of arms.
