Oil on canvas in very good condition, period frame in wood and gilded stucco.
Lucile Foullon-Vachot (1775-1865) is one of the rare female painters of this period. She was a portraitist and miniaturist who studied under Robert Lefèvre. She exhibited in the Salon from 1793 to 1822 and is perhaps best known for the full length portrait of Louis XVIII she executed for the city of Lille.
