"Raoul Bergougnan : “the Pink House”"
Raoul Bergougnan (1900-1982): “The pink house” oil on canvas 46 x 55 cm mounted in a beautiful Parnassian “eared” frame 65 x 74 cm. There are artists who touch your heart directly, without you really being able to say why. But is it really necessary? I think Bergougnan is one of them. This student of Georges Castex in Toulouse, an irreducible pillar of the Pink City which he practically never left, even if his presence at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1945 is noted by Bénézit, he exhibited more at the Salon des Artistes Méridionaux and practiced a lot the decor, whether for the Universal Exhibition or for Public Buildings. His teaching activity at the Beaux-Arts in Toulouse takes up a lot of his time, his easel works are relatively rare and always sought after. The canvas that we present to you here describes a road between two rows of houses, one of which is pink. The fluid, subtle texture, close to watercolor, invites us into this landscape rather than imposing it on us... Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone.
