Russian Sugar Bowl In Sterling Silver And Vermeil - Saint Petersburg 1889

Exceptional Russian covered sugar bowl in solid silver from the Alexander III period. Fabulous relief decoration of foliage scrolls and flowers on a hollowed textured ground. A blank medallion on each side is framed by pearls, and interior of the Sugar Bowl is  in Vermeil (Gold on Silver). The "spinning-top" form finial surmounting the domed lid is surrounded by a wooden ring. Well hallmarked piece (body and lid) with Russian Title Hallmarks, Hallmarks for SAINT PETERSBURG 1889, Hallmarks of the assayer Aleksandr Frans Fan-der-Flit in practice from 1882 to 1894 and Hallmarks of the Master Goldsmith with the initials "HK ".
