"Large Character Placemat In Cotton Embroidered With Cream Silk - Middle East Iran Early 20th Century"
Circa 1900 Middle East - Persia Iran Small table round or placemat in cream cotton embroidered with tone-on-tone characters in ivory silk, most probably originating in the Middle East at the beginning of the 20th century. Very fine openwork silk floche embroidery in chain stitch, lying stitch and fine cords knotted in fringes around the edge. Repertoire made with a quarter of characters, palmettes, flowers and Persian calligraphy. Excellent condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: 95 cm in diameter and 8 cm of fringes. Potentially Indian embroidery work made for the Persian market. No perfect condition.
