"Biblical Scene: A Family Nourished By Charity "
Interesting biblical scene, representing a locked family, certainly imprisoned in a cave, fed by an old man accompanied by a child, who brings down a basket with food, a hanap and other things waiting to be given. I thank the reader who will allow me to refine my description, because the reference is certain for those who have read the Bible. Indeed, no old painting is without exact reference. It always evokes an acquaintance. This painting, oil on canvas, is 17th century, or very early 18th century. The old copper label gives it for the 18th century, and from the French school. The attitude of the characters is nicely camp, flexible, we will notice the well-dressed man on the right below, but reduced to begging for his food with a bowl. The painting is on its original canvas, not cleaned yet. It has an old inventory label on the back. The frame is cut from a large 17th century gilded baguette (some accidents in the gilding).
