- Silver-gilt sugar spoon with double thread model. The spoon is decorated with a central rosette surrounded by a laurel wreath doubled with a frieze of tulips. The spatula is engraved with a number “RS” in a shield placed against a column base with laurel wreaths. - The pierced pattern with a frieze of tulips on the edge of the spoon is found on the drawing of a sugar spoon kept in the cabinet of prints and drawings in Strasbourg [Inv. LXV.75]. An identically pierced fillet spoon, dated 1784, is referenced in the Noël collection.
- Hallmarks (on the stem): recognition: small 13 topped with a fleur-de-lys, small recognition for Strasbourg, 1750-1789 [4, p.37 & Helft n°1112b]; warden's mark: 84 with helmet, Strasbourg, 1784 [Helft 1968, n°1110c]; master goldsmith: in a rectangle, IMLIN for François-Daniel Imlin, master goldsmith in Strasbourg from 1780 to 1827. Son of Georges Frédéric Imlin and father of Emmanuel-Frédérich Imlin, both goldsmiths.
- A talented goldsmith, numerous works by this goldsmith are kept in public and private collections: at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg a silver-gilt beaker with pinched ribs decorated with chiseled garlands, a porringer and its tray in an antique style also in the same collections…
