Gaston Ploquin was a student at the School of Fine Arts in Lyon, then under the painter and decorator Louis Bardey (1851-1915).He exhibited in Lyon since 1900 and participated in various Lyon salons. In Lyon, and during his travels in Burgundy and the Côte d'Azur, he made sketches and landscape paintings. Faithful to the traditional style taught at the academy, he painted landscapes, flowers, historical scenes and still lifes.
