16th Century Italy Precious front of Cardinal red chased velvet chasuble dating from the Renaissance. Composite background of crimson red velvet in full field and fleurdelysé decoration of pomegranates, as can be observed in Italian Renaissance painting. Visible cream silk weft and colored fringe trimmings dating from the same period. Glazed linen buckram lining and later gold braid at the neckline. Structural fragility, but without major defect. Stable structural condition with still a beautiful color, considering its age. Dimensions: 98 cm high, 56 cm at the base, 31 cm at the top.
