Édouard Adam, born April 2, 1847 in Brie-Comte-Robert, died February 10, 1929 in Le Havre, is a French marine painter. It was as a student of Jean-Baptiste Henri Durand-Brager (1814-1879) that he learned the profession of marine painter in Paris. After marrying Katty Caroline Watters, an Englishwoman who gave him a son, Victor Charles Édouard in 1868, he settled in Le Havre around 1873 to paint portraits of ships. He was appointed official painter of the Navy in 1885
