This nude with a green necklace is painted in oil on canvas, Montparnasse frame, represents a pretty young woman, tired and half undressed, her clothes fallen on her waist, sitting on a sofa, still wearing her jewelry, as if seized upon returning from 'a Parisian evening and getting ready to go to bed. Good condition, small chip at the bottom, signed on the right. Frame 65.5 x 80.5 cm, stretcher 66 x 50 cm Tancrède Synave, born in Paris in 1870 and died in 1936, studied with Benjamin Constant, Jules Lefebvre and Gabriel Ferrier at the Académie Julian. He made a name for himself by painting various worldly subjects and portraits. The intensity of the touch, the bright colors, the particularity of the compositions are elements which allow us to assimilate the work of Tancrède Synave with that of Louis Valtat or Henri Lebasque. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists throughout his career, which extended from 1893 to 1936. He received the medal of honor in 1894, the third class medal in 1901, as well as the gold medal in 1924 In the 1910s, Tancrède Synave, Jean-Gabriel Domergue and other artists founded an artistic movement called “Tradition Evolution”.
