Beautiful luminous work by the painter Julien Gustave Gagliardini which represents a rare view of the workshop of the painter Félix Ziem in Martigues. On a sunny summer day, the painter represented in the foreground on the right the workshop of the painter Félix Ziem (1821-1911) in an oriental spirit on the banks of the Chenal de Caronte.
In the background, we can see the town of Martigues with its Sainte-Marie Madeleine church.
In an impressionist style, the artist used a palette of bright colors deposited in small harmonious touches and to play on the play of light.
This work perfectly represents the Provencal landscape and the light of its region.

In 1893, he was made a knight of the Legion of honor.
