Large watercolor on paper measuring 46cm x 61cm representing a beachside animated by characters signed lower right L.Montagné Louis Agricole Montagnéné in Avignon in 1879, died in Paris in 1960 Student of Paul SAÏN and CORMON, he appears at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1901. He obtained several awards there. Equally comfortable with watercolors and oils, he enjoyed significant notoriety. He is part of the group of thirteen. At a very young age, he created decorative panels, and in 1900 he collaborated with Paul Saïn on the decoration of the PLM station. Introduced into official circles, he portrayed the brother of President Loubet in 1905, then received commissions from Baron Rothschild and the Council of Austria-Hungary. Wounded during the First World War, he lost an eye. He would later serve as director of the School of Fine Arts in Avignon. He will exhibit in major Parisian galleries.
