"Jean Hourregue : “village By The River”"
Jean Hourrègue (1925-1983): “Village by the river”, oil on slightly warped hard cardboard 52 x 75 cm, mounted in a modern old silver frame 58 x 81 cm. He was a student of Henri Hauterive, then at the Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux before joining the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. His touch, rapid and lively, captures snapshots of the landscapes encountered during his numerous travels both in France and abroad, even if, (luckily for us!), his native South-West always retained his favors, we offering views of the Landes, the Basque Country, the Bassin and Cap-Ferret. A rare example of an oil in a production more focused on watercolor, this splendid painting with tawny accents describes a village on a hill on the banks of a calm river in golden autumn light. Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or telephone. In partnership with Galerie Lafouresse, we are specialists in paintings on the Basque Country, the Landes and the Arcachon Basin.
