"Auguste Delaherche (1857 – 1940) Vase With Four Handles"
Auguste Delaherche ( 1857 - 1940 ) - Four-handled jar
A French ceramist born in the oise region, he was one of the great artists of the late 19th century who established the art of ceramics alongside Ernest Chaplet, Théodore Deck, Félix Bracquement and Jean Joseph Carriès.....
In 1886, he accompanied and received advice from Ernest Chaplet, buying out his factory. His success was immediately rewarded with a gold medal at the 1887 exhibition. In 1889, he was again awarded a gold medal, establishing himself as a pioneer of art nouveau in ceramics.
Many museums preserve his works, and in 1922 Georges Lecomte listed them in his book "Delaherche , l'art décoratif moderne" More than 40 museums from Paris to Tokyo, from San Francisco to London, Berlin... all bought during his lifetime.

Our four-handled jar bears the stamp used from 1886 and n° 357, listed in the archives of the Musée d'Orsay.
