"Narcissus From Pompeii With Antique Patina Grand Tour 19th Century "
Large bronze representing "Narcissus listening" or "Narcissus of Pompeii" following the discovery of the original during excavations in Pompeii in 1862 and currently preserved at the Archaeological Museum of Naples. The bronze that we are presenting has received a so-called excavation or antique patina typical of objects from archaeological excavations. Following its discovery, its success was immediate and it became one of the most prized objects by travelers on the Grand Tour in the second half of the 19th century. Our narcissus is particularly interesting for the quality of its execution, the delicacy of its carving but for its size identical to the original and for this rare antique patina which gives it a singular charm.
