"Empire Pendulum Birth Of Love Gilt Bronze Athenian Vestal 19th"
Finely chiseled gilded bronze clock representing "the Birth of Love", with a vestal welcoming a small cherub emerging from a flower, at its side a beautiful fire pot or Athenian with ram's heads, enameled dial with Roman numerals with 2 swans holding a flowered basket, on the base 2 garlands held by winged torches, from the 1st Empire period, early 19th century. This clock is in very good condition and is of remarkable quality. The wire movement works, we have the balance wheel but not the key. It has a curved rear window. Two similar models are presented in the Encyclopedia of the French Clock by P. Kjellberg. Note: tiny scratches and wear over time on the bronze and gilding, see photos.
