Object description :

"Moses Saved From The Waters, From The End Of The 17th Century, Venetian School."
This oil on canvas measures 73cm by 101cm, and its very beautiful frame (rare period model) in carved and gilded wood measures 95cm by 125cm. Sold with a certificate of authenticity. This very beautiful painting represents Moses saved from the waters. This biblical episode shows Moses, then newborn, taken from the Nile by the Pharaoh's daughter (Exodus 2, 1-10.). This subject was taken up by many famous painters, such as Simon Vouet, Charles Le Brun and Nicolas Poussin. We find it particularly in Venetian painting with Tintoretto, Veronese and Titian. This work from the pictorial production of the serene city of Venice shows the attachment of its inhabitants to the theme of water. We can note that the canvas is particularly highlighted by its rare and spectacular period gilded wood frame.
