"Louis XV Style Lady's Desk. Former Rothschild Collection"
Small Louis Ingot mold tray, and rich ornamentation of finely chiseled and gilded bronzes decorated with pulling handles, scraps and sabots. The lower part opens on the front with 5 small drawers and a writing tablet, in the belt, with golden vignettes. The upper part called small theater cardboard opens with 4 drawers covered in leather and arranged in the central part of a niche. Very good general condition with tiny restorations, small traces and marks of use. Provenance: Private collection. By family tradition, this piece of furniture belonged to one of the Rothschild collections and as the label of the Hans Bros Fireproof Warehouses Inc furniture storage unit would seem to indicate. N - Y City, where it was kept during the family's flight in 1940. (see last photo)
