"Stained Glass - Stained Glass - Sainte Geneviève"
This set of 4 stained glass windows represent the life of Saint Geneviève. Saint Geneviève is a Gallo-Roman saint, born around 420. She is the patron saint of the diocese of Nanterre, but also of the city of Paris and of the gendarmes. The first stained glass window represents Saint Germain giving the medal to Saint Geneviève, symbol of her devotion to the Lord. The second represents the Saint restoring sight to her mother. She holds a skin in one hand, with the other she passes water over the eyes of her mother spinning wool. Behind them is the well where the water comes from. On the third stained glass window, Saint Geneviève, brandishing a crucifix, stops Attila in front of Paris and reassures the population. On the last one, she implores Clovis to release prisoners. The 4 stained glass windows are composed in the same way with a painted scene in the center surmounted by a cross. Below an angel supports a text cartouche. A white and gold decoration on a blue font with a red border borders the whole.
Colorless and colored glass painted with enamels, silver yellow, and grisaille. Lead assembly. Recently restored. New brass frame.
