Object description :

"N'tomo Bambara Mask, Mali"
The N'tomo among the Bambaras is a secret society for the initiation of young uncircumcised boys. They are blackened over a fire then receive earth, oil, flour... which gives it this beautiful dark crusty patina in places. According to the Malian collector, it comes from the Koulikoro region. It is old (first half of the 20th century) and in good condition, measures 50 cm in total with a very beautiful patina. I really like its sober, very refined, very modern shape.
