One representing the famous judgment of Solomon, around the king, the characters are drawn, painted, cut into silhouettes, dressed with scraps of fabric, and placed in a palace. We tremble at having to witness the sacrifice of baby, but the gesture is restrained….
The second is located in a flowery landscape (a few dried flowers), on a stone altar, it is the oath of Jacob, bought from his brother for a meal of lentils that children brought him. Nice title cartridge, some gaps in flowers. On back, handwritten annotations of Alemannic origin.
Could be a work by students of a convent, circa 1700
Dimensions: 29cm x 18.5cm each.
Condition: as found, unframed, seems a little ruined, but that's because the abundance of materials used, in fact I would say: quite good, with two losses and a few flowers.
