Horizontal Kokonotsugiri-ban Nishikie type format. 12 x 17 cm. Ink and colors on paper. Custom framed: 28 x 29 cm. The drawing places more emphasis on the figures than on the landscapes, focusing on the travelers, townspeople, merchants and workers encountered along this famous route. Carefully detailed these charming scenes beautifully capture life along the Tokaido during the Edo period.
