The bust is inscribed with the word "Plato"
The identity of the depiction is currently unclear. Archaeologists attribute it to the philosopher Plato.
The Swiss archaeologist Karl Weber discovered this depiction around 1750 during his excavations in the Villa dei Papiri, near Herculaneum in the Gulf of Naples.
Bronze foundries in the Naples area had permission from the National Museum of Naples to make replicas based on the excavations in Herlucaneum.
The object is in perfect condition.
