"Small Louis XIV Console In Oak, Late 17th Early 18th Century"
Small console in molded and carved oak wood with a slightly arched front. The openwork belt is decorated with scrolls, acanthus and foliage. It rests on four console uprights decorated with satyr heads, acanthus and scrolls, the base ends with a goat's hoof topped with an acanthus leaf. The base is joined by an X-shaped spacer decorated with floral motifs. The Campan grand blend marble top (Hautes Pyrénées) is molded with a corbin beak. (restored see photo) French work from the end of the 17th to the beginning of the 18th century. This rare console, due to its small dimensions and its quality of sculpture, was formerly gilded (traces of coating).
