"Stanisław Eleszkiewicz (1900-1963) "lunch In The Countryside" Oil On Cardboard Signed 60x73 Cm"
Stanisław ELESZKIEWICZ (1900 Czutowe - 1963 Paris) “Lunch in the countryside” Oil on cardboard signed lower right 60 x 73 cm Stanisław Eleszkiewicz, born February 29, 1900 in Czutowe (near Poltava) and died December 14, 1963 in Paris, is a Polish painter, stained glass decorator, mosaicist and glass engraver. Stanisław Eleszkiewicz studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and then at the Fine Arts in Athens. He settled in Paris in 1923, and moved in bohemian circles there, becoming one of the most interesting representatives of the international circle of the School of Paris. He paints portraits, genre scenes and symbolic compositions. He traveled to Italy and became known primarily as a stained glass decorator. It is known that in the 1920s he collaborated with the Parisian mosaic workshop Gentil et Bourdet. Later he was also active in the stained glass workshop of Jean Gaudin. At the same time, he became involved in easel painting, successfully exhibiting his works at the Salon des artistes français from 1926, as well as at the Galerie du Montparnasse in 1928. Eleszkiewicz developed his own style, in which the sense of creator of stained glass and mosaics was perfectly visible. The artist used a strong black outline and a relatively flat spot of color. The intense, unnatural colors bring him closer to the Expressionists, and the often used fantastical motifs of the Surrealists' painting.
