Jules Adler born July 8, 1865 in Luxeuil-les-Bains (Haute-Saône) and died June 11, 1952 in Nogent-sur-Marne is a French painter. Linked to the movement of naturalism3, he is nicknamed “the painter of the humble”. He initially studied at the School of Decorative Arts, where he was a student of William Bouguereau, Tony Robert-Fleury and finally at the Beaux-Arts with Pascal Dagnan-Bouveret. At the same time, from 1883, he took courses at the Académie Julian. After an initial failure, he succeeded in entering the Paris School of Fine Arts in 1884. Massier at the Académie Julian, he created the academy's masked ball which later became the Bal des Quat'z'Arts.
