"Pair Of Mahogany Bergères, Louis-philippe Period, Stamped By étienne Francois Quenne."
Pair of molded mahogany armchairs, reversed backrest, scroll armrests, lion shank front legs, saber rear legs. Louis Philippe period. Gold velvet trim decorated with friezes of stylized laurel branches. An armchair bearing the stamp of Étienne Francois Quenne (1766-1837). Dimensions: 96 x 60.5 x 51 cm. Notes: Etienne-François Quenne is a carpenter whose production can be found from the Ancien Régime until the Restoration. He was a supplier of Imperial and Royal Furniture from 1810 to 1837. The great similarity with the styles of Jacob and Marcion suggests that he was a subcontractor to complete important official orders on time. National furniture still presents many Quenne seats in its collections today.
