Object description :

"Andrée Simon (1896-1981), Abstract Composition Painting, Oil On Canvas From 1977-1978 Ii. "
Andrée SIMON, painter born in 1896 and died in 1981. Originally from Normandy, she was a drawing teacher for several years then devoted herself entirely to painting by setting up her first studio in Rennes from 1928. Her style was then figurative and very Cézanian. . She became friends with André Lhote, who taught her painting in Mirmande in Drôme, with whom she discovered the village of Gordes, a real favorite. With her husband she bought a house there and lived there for forty years. Andrée Simon and André Lhote are then joined by numerous artists, some of whom are internationally renowned such as Victor Vasarely, Serge Poliakoff, Marc Chagall, Jean Degottex, etc. Andrée Simon then directs her art towards abstraction. It’s a natural and obvious approach for her. She is inspired by the observation of trees, clouds and all light effects. This abstract art, initially geometric, subsequently becomes lyrical. But nothing is left to chance. Andrée Simon “constructs” her works according to a very personal artistic approach. She gives free rein to her emotions while controlling them through a process resulting from her work and the method she imposes on herself. In this way she was noticed by enlightened amateurs, art critics with whom she maintained close relationships such as Belon, Degand, Estienne. Let's not forget that she is a woman in a misogynistic environment. The art world is above all a world of men. And yet, through her talent and her work, she will establish herself as obvious: an essential artist with such a particular talent. This superb composition, an oil on canvas from 1977-1978, is a reflection of his late life work in an assembly of cheerful colors. It comes from the artist's studio collection carefully preserved by Martin Nicolas de Barry, his grandson, who does us the honor of opening the doors to us so that we can discover, in our own way, the superb paintings. , gouaches and watercolors by Andrée Simon. Dimensions: Height 75 cm. Length 98 cm. No frame. Artist's signature lower right. Indication of the year 1978-77 on the back of the canvas. You can contact us at 0787869393 or 0953253741.
