Ancient Gothic Chest , Northern Italy.

Important gothic Renaissance chest or chest in solid dark walnut wood and in first patina. The piece of furniture is of Northern culture, probably made in a workshop between Lombardy and Veneto at the end of XVth century, early 16th century. On the front of the chest there is a wrought iron lock in the center which branches out into four circular fretwork plates. The other 3 larger plates are similar and equipped with heart-shaped handles and arranged below the central lock. The interior of the solid lid is adorned with inlays of lozenges and squares in various essences, with joining strips and circular plaques in wrought and perforated iron, which reflect the external ones and contain fabric. The internal part of the chest had various partitions and coffers, but they have been lost, as part of the inlay and metal decoration. The corners of the chest are entirely covered in molded iron and probably cover the thick dovetail joints, with which these types of chests are supplied.

The measurements of this chest are: 103cm long x 52cm deep and 46cm high.

All elements are original from the time. The sale will be accompanied by a historical guarantee certificate.
