"Rosewood Showcase Furniture, Louis XVI Style – Late 19th Century"
This veneered rosewood display unit opens, in the upper part, with a double glass door whose veneer is arranged in butterfly wings. These doors, mounted on projecting brass knobs with turned ends, are equipped with an authentic functional lock with beaded and oval entrances accompanied by their key. Below, the expanded veneer drawer has a mahogany perimeter band highlighted by lemon and ebony fillets. This piece of furniture also opens, in the lower part, through a door which is similarly mounted on brass knobs and is fitted with a lock with similar entry and key. This opening is inlaid with a decoration of a pot-bellied vase with floral composition and lemon tree and amaranth fillets with Greek angles. The straight uprights are in horizontal rosewood veneer. The feet are sheathed and fitted with brass shoes. The interior offers a shelf, last in each of these parts, accompanied in the lower part by three storage spaces. The sides are veneered in an “open book” style with mahogany surrounds. The interiors are in oak. Its finesse, its manufacturing quality, but also its small footprint, make this display case a functional and pleasing piece of furniture. ******** Period: Late 19th Century Excellent condition.
