"Diehl Support Cabinet In Marquetry, Bronzes Signed Picard, Th. Napoleon III Napoleon 3 Boulle"
DESCRIPTION: Beautiful support unit in light and dark wood marquetry, stamped by Diehl. The bronzes are superb, they all bear the mark of the bronze maker Henri Picard Ringo (1840-1890), who created the Diehl bronzes between 1864 and 1868. Two pot-bellied cherubs carrying a shell, and two newts (quite rare bronze on furniture from 'support), multiple ingot molds. The marquetry of dark wood on light wood highlights the central character on its pedestal, and also advantageously adorns the top, bottom and sides of this very refined piece of furniture (amaranth, lemon tree, ebony, pretty contrasts). The top is in white Carrara marble, interior in rosewood with two adjustable shelves. Perfectly functional key and lock.
