"Important Buddha - Lacquered Wood - Vietnam - 18th Century"
Important Buddha in gilded and lacquered wood in a seated position called "Dhyana Mudra". The position of Dhyana Mudra is the position of meditation, the final position acquired by Buddha under the Bodhi tree when he achieved enlightenment and wisdom. Both hands are placed, palms facing the sky, fingers extended. They rest on the legs of a seated Buddha. Wisdom is the essential characteristic of this gesture known to all. Vietnam 18th century
