Object description :

"Norman Heart Pendant, 19th Century. "
This very beautiful silver pendant is set with numerous small faceted Rhine stones, it is articulated in two parts, the first in the shape of a knot and under this a suspended heart, the whole held by a bail in which a formerly slid black velvet ribbon. According to Michael Fieggen in his book entitled: “The Jewels of the French” it is a rare piece of jewelry which was perhaps worn by Protestant women. It is struck, on the top of the knot, with a boar's head hallmark in force since 1838 and on the back of the heart it bears a diamond-shaped maker's mark. Three very small stones are missing, but it is almost invisible to the eye. Dimensions 8.5 cm x 4.5 cm.
