Ludovic Alleaume studied at the Beaux-Arts under Ernest Hébert and Luc-Olivier Merson. He was quickly introduced to the Salon, receiving an honourable mention in 1900 and a medal in 1905 for his painting Soir d'été. At the same time, he exhibited in the famous Georges Petit gallery and received favourable reviews from the public. Female subjects formed a major part of his work, enabling him to demonstrate his mastery of drawing, which oscillated between academicism and modernity.
