Adèle Chamecin exhibited regularly at the Salon de Lyon and received rave reviews. As early as 1884, the newspaper L'Éclair referred to her "charming portraits". In 1899, her painting Le Crucifix, showing a woman in devotion, was selected for inclusion in the Salon de Lyon catalogue. The accompanying commentary underlined the work of our painter: "Mlle Chamecin, a regular visitor to our Salons, whose Adagio was highly acclaimed two years ago, returns to us this year in great progress with The Crucifix, a bold composition, full of expression and vigour. A woman veiled in mourning meditates on a crucifix. The painter was inspired by Lamartine's beautiful verse: 'Que de pleurs ont coulé sur ces pieds que j'adore...'. Mlle Chamecin's painting is of great distinction and skilfully rendered expression" (see La Vie française, 01 January 1899, p.6). Our artist was awarded a medal for this composition (Ibid., p.91).
