"The Lonely Walker "
Lovely ink drawing enhanced with wash of the same, representing a young man, taking a break in the countryside during a walk, tired or pensive, handkerchief in hand, hat on. The fashionable outfit, very flared top hat, small two-tone boots, high knotted tie, narrow frock coat, were the prerogative of masculine elegance at the very beginning of the 19th century. The pensive pose evokes the romanticism of the youth of the time. It is made on a pretty paper still laid, and framed in a pitch pin mounted with a key.
