"Pair Of Large Candlesticks In Gilt Bronze. First Empire Period."
Pair Of Large Candlesticks In Gilt Bronze - 33 cm - First Empire Period. Rich chiseled decoration: The barrel, horn-shaped and gadrooned, is segmented by rings decorated with friezes of flowers. It is decorated with three Greek-style women's heads at the top, and rests on their three pairs of feet. The circular base is decorated with palmettes of lotus leaves and arrow fletches arranged radially. The bobêche has a flat surface chiseled with a fine frieze of pastilles. She takes her place in the bin carved with pine cone scales. The pedestal of the binet rests on a counter-base resembling a second lower bobêche. These candlesticks have not undergone any modification and have not been drilled for electricity. The mercury gilding is original. Slight wear from use on the shiny parts called "burnished".
