Mathurin Janssaud (1857-1940). Born in Manosque, Mathurin Janssaud left his native Provence for Brittany and its special light. Concarneau became its home port. He also belongs to the group of painters attached to this city, alongside among others Alfred Guillou, Théophile Deyrolle, Henri Barnoin, Fernand Le Goût-Gérard… He strives to transcribe light and movement, often in pastel. more rarely in watercolor. His favorite theme is the life of Breton ports at the time of sailing fishing and peasant women in headdresses.
