A suggestive work of art executed in the ways of medieval sculpture by a Spanish artist from the Pyrenean area.
The extraordinary expressive force of the exaggeratedly elongated face and the anatomical details of the abdomen described in a primitive and caricatural manner are of great effect, while the drape that covers the legs up to the knees features very fine folds of extreme elegance.
The figure is perfectly vertical, composed and rigorous following all the canons of 12th century Romanesque art.
The beautiful patina and the quality of the sculpture give the sculpture the typical characteristics of an authentic medieval work, so much so that it easily misleads the viewer.
We offer it at an excellent price as a 19th century artefact but the result on the wall is truly remarkable.
