Interesting antique engraving by the Belgian artist Jef Codron (1882-1942), in color, depicting a magnificent view of the Brussels canal with its typical mansard-roofed houses, a bridge, and ducks in the canal. Magnificent sky and great purity in its execution. Jef Codron distinguished himself by painting urban aspects of his hometown, being a highly esteemed artist at the European level. The engraving was made using the techniques of etching and aquatint, intaglio printmaking processes that allow for fine details and tonal gradations. The engraving, with its surrounding impression, is titled “Lodron – Bruxelles”, is numbered 281/350, and is hand-signed in the lower right. Below, also handwritten in pencil, one can read “Bruan les jolies”.
