Object description :

"Italian School Of The 18th Century, Portrait Of Beggar"
COD: 0846
Great Italian painting from the first half of the 18th century. Oil on canvas artwork, first canvas, depicting the portrait of a beggar referable to the Pitocchetto workshop, lacking authenticity. Giacomo Ceruti (1698-1767), known as Pitocchetto, was one of the great painters of the eighteenth century and earned his nickname for his pictorial genre which had the poor, vagabonds and peasants as its main subjects. The protagonist of our painting is one of these outcasts, immersed in a splendid landscape, he is represented with worn clothes and a flask of wine in his hand while we find playing cards at his feet. 20th century frame in carved, gilded and painted wood with a faux marble effect, with some signs of aging. Painting that has undergone restoration work with the replacement of the frame and restoration of color in some places. It has several tears and discolouration (see photo), overall in a fair state of conservation. Sight size H 113 x W 78 cm.
