Embossed solid silver Christ, 19th century
Set in a contemporary wood frame with a carpet background, this Christ is depicted in the style known as 'jansenist" in fashion during 18th and 19th centuries. The Christ is alive with eyes towards the sky, arms strongly raised and hands closed. A short perizonium made of thick pleats is knotted with a flap on right hip.
Very good condition, partially black patina. Belgian Minerva hallmark (used from 1831 to 1868). Carpet is a bit faded.
