Articulated necklace in 925 silver with white painted cabochons. Inscription: 'Just. A Sterling Danmark' with hallmarks. Gross weight: 55.3 gr. Good condition. Dimensions: D: 15.5 cm Danish artist who apprenticed with the eminent sculptor HHC Lambert-Petersen (1866-1927) for whom he worked for 3 years. After a short stay at the Academy of Fine Arts, Andersen enrolled in 1912 at the Academy of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen. He met Mogens Ballin (1871-1914), one of the most popular ironworker craftsmen in Denmark but also the employer of Alba, his future wife who worked for the artist as a metal engraver. When Ballin died in 1914, he left behind funds which were used to create an altar for the Catholic church in Copenhagen. Andersen is appointed as project owner. Andersen and Alba, who became his wife in 1915, worked together from 1914 to 1917 on the creation of the altar in gold and copper. At the same time, Andersen and his wife both began making unique pieces of goldwork. Just Andersen opened his workshop in 1918 where he continued his creation of gold jewelry. He also began creating vases in silver, bronze and pewter. He invented “Disko”, a very particular and unique alloy. Just Andersen will organize its exhibitions across Europe and the United States, it will exhibit alongside major houses, among others with Maison Georg Jensen, Royal Copenhagen and Bing & Grondahl.
