Hilton Mc Connico, For Daum — “cactus Flower” Subject, In Red Crystal.

Hilton MC CONNICO (1943 - 2018), for DAUM FRANCE, publisher. Subject “Cactus flower”. Very beautiful little CUP – or decorative motif – on the theme of nature, in oxblood red tinted crystal, mold blown, and enhanced at the level of the pistil with yellow enamel. The subject, with polylobed borders, unambiguously represents a blooming flower, called a cactus, and seems to find a certain influence in the spirit of the Art Nouveau movement. Inside, the petals are ribbed, probably for greater realism. A creation from a collection designed by designer Hilton Mc Connico, for the Manufacture de DAUM, established in Nancy. Signature present on the reverse of the subject, in incised cursive letters, "Daum Cristal" (photos n°3 and following). Mc Connico's signature does not appear directly on the piece, but this model, and even this collection of flowers, is well known to have been created by Mc Connico (a simple and quick Internet search is enough to realize this) . The Daum signature is, therefore, nevertheless present. Very beautiful object, qualitative, and quite rare in this version, in a deep and sustained red. It seems more of a decorative, showcase object. There is also a whole series of flowers of this type, in many different shades. Late, modern production; second half – or even end – of the 20th century. DIMENSIONS: - the diameter of the subject is between 06.00 CM and 06.40 CM; - its height is approximately 01.50 CM. CONDITION REPORT: The subject is in perfect condition. There is absolutely nothing – no wear, no shock or accident – to report; the crystal is pure, clear and shiny, and the color is well preserved. This item almost appears to be like new. No shine, no color alteration. Tiny and invisible scratches can be detected on the reverse of the base, but they are really fine, few in number, usual on this type of object, and, being located under the base, they are practically not noticed (the last photos , at the same time as they illustrate the signature, can document this point, but it is anecdotal). Generally speaking, the item is really in perfect condition!
