Important Volant De Dentelle Noire Aux Fuseaux à Bordure Festonnée - Guipure Du Puy - XIXème

Long ruffle of guipure from Puy-en-Velay made with continuous thread bobbins, in black silk thread (late 19th century). This lace, well known for its so-called Cluny stitch, is made up of 8 cm wide strips assembled together using a hook stitch. This made it possible to obtain the desired width. In its lower part it presents a decoration typical of Puy guipures, often recognizable by their geometric decoration embellished with dots or (and) medallions decorated with small flowers, straps and picots.

Condition : This piece is in excellent condition throughout and shows no brittleness under tension or discoloration. Only a very small release located at the assembly point of two bands, as well as two or three other releases lost in the network are to be reported. These imperfections, which are minimal to say the least, are not serious.
