Jules Boulez (Vive-St-Eloi, 1889 - Oudenaarde, 1960)
First rudiments of painting in the Charrier workshop in Paris (1910 - 1912), then training at the Academy of Ghent with Jean Delvin and George Minne (1912 - 1914 ). After his marriage, he settled in Audenaerde in 1916. Started with impressionist landscapes and then painted large nudes and very colorful still lifes as well as post-expressionist landscapes but dry and solidly constructed. Evolves towards cubist and abstract works.
