Elegant gilded bronze sculpture representing a dancing woman. Bronze in very good condition from the end of the 19th century. Signature on the base "Félix Charpentier" and founder's stamp. Félix Charpentier joined the Paris School of Fine Arts at the age of only 19, winning first place out of twenty-seven in the entrance exam. While he was still a student, he already presented his sculptures at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1879. His results were brilliant and his submissions were quickly noticed. From then on, his rise was meteoric. At thirty-five years old, Félix Charpentier has received all the awards from the Salon des Artistes Français and can no longer claim any medal as provided for by the regulations. Until the end of his life, however, he continued to send plasters from public commissions, busts of individuals, and marble statues. Félix Charpentier successfully completed all the steps to become an “official” sculptor. He is one of the most prominent artistic figures of his time, putting his art at the service of the Third Republic.
