"Drawing Portrait Of A Man, Ink And Wash, 1st Empire Period"
Beautiful portrait drawn in ink and wash of a man in its original frame. The drawing is not signed and is the presumed portrait of Barthélémy Robert (died in 1835), former farmer general to the Count of Artois, brother of King Louis XVI. Indeed two mentions are present on the back of the object. The first written in ink is from the period: "From his king, from his father, He avenged the memory of the oppressed French he defended the right Envy by quivering in his past glory and crime suffered in the resounding voice. " The second written in pen tells us a partial genealogy of the man portrayed: "Mr Robert. Father of Pierre Hercule. My great grandfather. Guy Le Masson" Note: The frame has some gaps. Dimensions of the drawing (at sight): 13.5cm x 17.5cm Dimensions of the frame: 27cm x 30.5cm
