Framed oil on cardboard representing a couple in a room with green shutters or blinds. A man sitting at the foot of a bed smokes his pipe watching over the naked woman's sleep. On the back, a scene represents a married couple. This  
preparatory sketch can be compared to a painting by the painter and master glassmaker Jean Hebert-Stevens, husband of Pauline Peugniez. The two names are affixed to the top right of the sketch. The couple of artists often worked together, particularly for the creation of stained glass cartoons. (See biographical notes on last photos.
